YMCA Infinity Gymnastics Team Announces Keystone Games, Nationals Results
QUAKERTOWN - River Crossing YMCA’s Infinity Gymnastics team is celebrating a summer of growth and success upon recent achievements at both YMCA National competition, June 27-July 1 in Greensboro, N.C., and the Keystone State Games, held July 24-Aug. 2 in State College, PA.
River Crossing YMCA, which recently opened a brand new gymnastics center at its Quakertown branch, sent 51 nine-18-year-old gymnasts to YMCA nationals. The YMCA National Gymnastics Championships hosted over 2,000 athletes and families representing 85 YMCAs across the country. Infinity Gymnastics returned home with 106 medals from Y nationals including titles for:
• Adalyn Scherer, Level 3, Floor exercise
• Kimberly DeLany, Level 4, Floor exercise and All Around competition
• Addison Wesner, Level 4, Vault competition
• Gracie Lynch, Level 6, Vault competition
The Infinity team also took home national team accolades for the Level 4 team (third place) and Level 7 team (fifth place).
“The national meet really brings the best out of our athletes,” explained Janine Brown, Sr. Dir. of gymnastics for River Crossing YMCA. “Each gymnast set individual performance goals for themselves prior to the event and I am proud to say that all of them achieved at least one of those goals.”
Brown also remarked about the value of connections the Y gymnasts make with each other at big competitions.
“They watch each other and the gymnasts from the other teams perform and compete. It really is a highlight for me to see our athletes getting to know other kids from across the country and wishing them success in their performances.”
From Nationals the RCY Infinity gymnasts moved on to the Keystone State Games on July 31. Part of the State Games of America and organized by the National Congress of Sports and Keystone State Games, the PA competition hosted over 50 athletic competitions including track and field, ice
hockey, gymnastics and karate. The mission of the Keystone State Games is to promote physical fitness, sports activity and sportsmanship through competition. RCY state games titles included:
• Kimberly DeLany, Level 4, Floor exercise
• Addison Wesner, Level 4, Floor exercise
• Brienna Ruvolo, Level 4, Bars competition
• Shanina Freed, Level 6, Floor exercise
• Giada Arcade, Level 7, Balance Beam
