Campers representing 17 programs in Bucks, Hunterdon (NJ), Lehigh and Northampton counties descended on Deer Path Park in Flemington on July 15 for a day of fun, character-building and togetherness for the third annual Let Your Colors Shine field day.

Over 700 young campers came from far and wide to attend River Crossing YMCA’s Let Your Colors Shine celebration and field day on July 15 at Deer Path Park in Flemington. Y campers ages six-13 from 17 camps in Bucks, Northampton, Lehigh and Hunterdon (NJ) counties drove in on over 30 buses to intermingle through arts and crafts, sports and group spirit activities, making new friends and celebrating their group togetherness.

The third annual Let Your Colors Shine event began with opening ceremonies, featuring camp chants and songs from Jayden Battle, the Y’s camp director at the Deer Path branch in Flemington, NJ. As a special hot summer treat, the Three Bridges Fire Dept. stopped by to cool off campers with a much needed fire truck hosing. Along with rotating in groups through games, sports and team-building, campers tie-dyed their own t-shirts to bring home and wear proudly as a keepsake from the event.

Jayden Battle, director of River Crossing YMCA’s Deer Path camp in Flemington, NJ led opening and closing ceremonies for over 700 campers at the 3rd annual Let Your Colors Shine field day at Deer Path Park on July 15.

“Let Your Colors Shine brings our campers all together to meet each other, play together and learn about each other,” explained Danielle Cioffi, who oversees River Crossing YMCA summer camp programs. “For them it’s like a big party, but what we see is kids meeting for the first time, playing as a team and being themselves. I couldn’t be more grateful to the sponsors and partners for making this event possible for our campers.”

Despite the hot summer sun of the day, campers like Norah Corotto, a seven-year-old camper from Warminster, were prepared for a fun and safe day.

“Today I’m really good. I will definitely put extra sunscreen on and drink lots of water,” said Corotto.

The Y’s Let Your Colors Shine event was made possible by sponsors and partners The GIANT Company, Fulton Bank, Service Electric, JKJ (Johnson Kendall Johnson), First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union and Doylestown Health/Penn Medicine.
